Personal Mission

Building the Internet We Actually Need The real problem wasn't that my websites lacked traffic. It was that I was building the wrong thing for the wrong reason. I noticed something while learning marketing: most directories and information hubs on the internet are garbage. They're SEO farms designed to extract ad revenue, bloated with affiliate links, stuffed with AI-generated nonsense that sounds right but means nothing. Users know it. They feel the difference between a site built to help them and a site built to exploit them. That's when the actual mission crystallized. What if I built a portfolio of digital assets that did the opposite? Platforms that anticipate what people need to know before they even know they need to know it. Directories that stay current not because I'm manually updating them at 2 AM, but because the infrastructure itself is designed to refresh and evolve. Information systems that actually serve their purpose instead of serving ad networks. This isn't just about making money—though the portfolio approach means it scales. It's about creating places on the internet that are trustworthy. Places where the information is current, the recommendations are genuine, and the user experience isn't designed to trap you in a funnel. Directory 2.0, basically. Every site I build now operates on this principle: it should answer questions the user hasn't asked yet. It should get smarter without me touching it. And it should be the last site they need to visit for that category of information, not the first stop in a SEO spam gauntlet. That's the digital landlord philosophy. Not just owning domains. Building institutions.

Who is David Stetler?

I'm a 34-year-old developer from Michigan with a passion for the intersection of AI and web technology. My journey to tech wasn't straightforward—I spent years searching for a career that truly resonated with me. Growing up primarily raised by my mother after losing my father to addiction at an early age, I learned to forge my own path. It wasn't until I began experimenting with computers that I discovered my calling. Once I started coding and building digital experiences, I never looked back.

GES Development LLC holds special significance for me beyond business. I named the company in honor of my uncle, who lost his battle with mental health and took his own life. His memory drives my commitment to creating meaningful work and reminds me daily of the importance of purpose.

I specialize in Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)—the evolution beyond traditional SEO that optimizes websites to be discovered, understood, and cited by AI language models like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Through my company GES Development LLC, I work to transform domains into high-traffic digital assets by implementing strategic content architecture, semantic markup, and AI-friendly data structures.

My technical approach includes working with Next.js for server-side rendering (which is critical for AI crawlers), Sanity CMS for flexible content management, Vercel for optimized deployment, and comprehensive schema markup implementation. I focus on enhancing E-E-A-T signals (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) that both search engines and AI models use when evaluating content quality.

This portfolio reflects my ongoing learning journey in modern web development practices, including the hologram aesthetic that has become something of a signature design element across my projects. Each project represents an opportunity I've had to apply GEO principles in real-world scenarios, from llms.txt implementation to conversational query optimization.

I'm currently available for freelance projects focused on web application development, data visualization, and GEO strategy implementation. I'd be happy to discuss how AI-optimized architecture might benefit your digital presence.

Ges Development Project Manager/CEO

My Journey: Building Digital Assets in the Real World When I started GES Development, I was confident. Unreasonably confident, actually—the kind of confidence that only comes from not knowing what you're up against. I knew how to code. I could design systems, deploy databases, architect full-stack applications. So I did what seemed logical: I built websites with premium domains. Lots of them. Really good-looking ones too. Then I launched them and watched tumbleweeds roll across the homepage analytics. Turns out, development is table stakes. It's the cost of entry, not the competitive advantage. You can build a thousand polished websites with premium domains, and they'll be beautiful monuments to your technical skills while generating exactly zero revenue. The hard lesson came when I realized marketing wasn't an afterthought to development—it was the development. So I spent the next month or two unlearning everything I thought I knew about what makes a website valuable.
